Rajasthan Tour Packages — Why Rajasthan Is India's Greatest Travel Destination
Holiday Vibez curates Rajasthan tour packages that cover the full depth of India's most visually spectacular state. Jaipur — the Pink City — is the unmissable gateway: the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds, 1799) with its 953 latticed windows through which Rajput queens once observed the street below; the Amber Fort (1592) climbing up a hillside above a lake, elephant rides up the cobbled ramp at dawn; the City Palace still partly occupied by the royal family; the Jantar Mantar (UNESCO), an 18th-century open-air astronomical observatory of giant stone instruments that still tell the time to the second. Jodhpur — the Blue City — is dominated by Mehrangarh Fort, a sandstone citadel rising 125 metres above the old city: from its ramparts you look down at a sea of indigo blue houses (blue was the colour of Brahmin households, gradually adopted by the whole city) against the brown Thar Desert. Udaipur — the City of Lakes — is arguably the most romantic city in India: the Taj Lake Palace, a marble palace floating on Lake Pichola, was built in 1746 and is now a luxury hotel — you arrive by boat; the City Palace rises directly from the lake's eastern shore, layer upon layer of balconies, archways and mirrored chambers. Jaisalmer — the Golden City — is a living medieval fort: Jaisalmer Fort (1156, UNESCO World Heritage) is one of the largest in the world and still has 2,000 residents inside its walls — shops, havelis, Jain temples, rooftop restaurants with desert views. At Sam Sand Dunes 40km away, the Thar Desert begins in earnest: camel safaris at sunset, overnight camps under the Milky Way, desert music by firelight.
Best Rajasthan season: October–March (cool and dry, 15–25°C days, perfect sightseeing weather, festivals including Pushkar Camel Fair in November and Jaipur Literature Festival in January). April–June: very hot (40°C+) but off-season pricing and fewer crowds. Monsoon July–September: lush green landscape, dramatic lighting, some desert roads difficult. Getting there: Fly to Jaipur (JAI), Jodhpur (JDH) or Udaipur (UDR) from all major Indian cities. Train from Delhi to Jaipur (4.5 hrs), Jodhpur (7 hrs) or Bikaner (7 hrs). Rajasthan has India's best road trip circuits — self-drive and hired car options available.
