Himachal Pradesh Tour Packages — Devbhoomi, Land of the Gods
Holiday Vibez curates Himachal Pradesh tour packages across all terrains and budgets — from the colonial charm of Shimla to the lunar moonscape of Spiti Valley. Shimla (2,206m) is HP's summer capital and India's best-known hill station — the Mall Road runs along a ridge above the city, lined with Victorian-era buildings, a Gothic church and cedar trees, all under snow from December to February. Manali (2,050m) sits at the head of the Kullu Valley where the Beas River tumbles through forests of deodar. The old town around the Hadimba Devi Temple (1553 AD, octagonal teak shikara roofed in copper plates surrounded by cedar forest) is a different Manali from the new town's tourist strip. Rohtang Pass (3,978m), 51km north of Manali — the single greatest day trip in HP — is where the green Kullu valley abruptly ends and the high-altitude cold desert begins, with glaciers visible in every direction. Spiti Valley is a completely different planet: a high-altitude Tibetan Buddhist desert at 3,000–4,500m, its villages clinging to rock faces above impossibly blue rivers, Key Monastery (11th century, 4,166m, the highest in HP) perched on a hill visible for 20km in every direction. The night sky above Spiti is the best in India for stargazing — 5,000+ stars visible with the naked eye, the Milky Way a solid band. Dharamshala / McLeod Ganj — the Dalai Lama's residence since 1960, perched above the Kangra Valley with the Dhauladhar Range as backdrop — is one of India's most distinctive towns: Tibetan monks in saffron robes, exiled writers' cafés, meditation centres, and the best momos outside Lhasa.
Best HP seasons: March–June (spring-summer — rhododendrons blooming, Rohtang opens in May, Spiti accessible from June). October–November (golden autumn, Kullu Dussehra festival, Spiti clear before snow). December–February (Shimla and Manali snow, Gulmarg-like ski conditions). Spiti Valley is accessible June–October only (snowed in otherwise). Getting there: Fly to Shimla (SLV) or Kullu-Manali (KUU) airport, or train to Kalka + Shimla narrow-gauge toy train (UNESCO). Drive from Delhi to Shimla (350km, 7 hrs) or Manali (570km, 11 hrs).
