Budget Andaman Honeymoon — India's Tropical Island Paradise from ₹32,000 per Couple
The Andamans are the one domestic destination where you genuinely feel like you're in the Maldives — the water is the same impossible turquoise, the coral reefs are just as alive, and the beaches are just as deserted. The key cost is flights: Port Blair (IXZ) is 2 hours from Chennai and Kolkata, and budget fares start from ₹4,000 one-way (₹8,000 return). From there: a budget guesthouse in Port Blair — ₹1,200/night for two. Return ferry Port Blair to Havelock Island (cruise, 2.5 hrs) — ₹1,300/person. A budget beach resort on Havelock — ₹2,500/night with AC. Entry to Radhanagar Beach — free. Snorkelling kit rental at Elephant Beach — ₹300. Sea Walk at North Bay Island — ₹3,500/person (30 min underwater walk on the reef floor wearing a helmet). PADI Scuba Dive intro (1 dive, 30 min) — ₹4,000/person. Andaman Honeymoon Packages — India's Tropical Island Paradise
Holiday Vibez curates Andaman honeymoon packages across every island zone — Port Blair's colonial history, Havelock's world-class beaches, Neil Island's quiet romance, Jolly Buoy's coral gardens, and Baratang's primeval mangrove forests. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands sit 1,370km from the mainland in the Bay of Bengal, geographically closer to Myanmar and Thailand than to Chennai — which explains why they look nothing like mainland India. The water here is the colour of a swimming pool and twice as clear. The coral reefs surrounding the southern islands are among the healthiest in the Indian Ocean: unaffected by major bleaching events and home to 1,200 species of fish. Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) is the Andaman honeymoon base: a 113 sq km island covered in rainforest, its western coast holding Radhanagar Beach (Beach No. 7) — 2km of powder-white sand under a canopy of giant Mahua trees, water that stays ankle-warm year-round, and sunsets that turn the entire sky and sea flame-red. Time magazine called it Asia's best beach. It now holds India's first international Blue Flag beach certification. Elephant Beach on the island's north is the snorkelling hub: a 15-minute speedboat ride reaches a reef where sea turtles, clownfish and moray eels are visible from the surface. Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) is the quiet alternative — smaller (13.7 sq km), fewer tourists, Bharatpur Beach for swimming, Laxmanpur Beach for the most photogenic sunset in the Andamans (the natural rock arch at Laxmanpur 2 is one of India's most-photographed landscapes), and Sitapur Beach for dawn with the whole sunrise to yourselves. Jolly Buoy Island is the coral day-trip: uninhabited, accessible only by government-controlled boat, the water clarity here is extraordinary — 15m visibility, giant clams, staghorn coral and schools of parrotfish visible without a mask. Baratang Island is the jungle adventure: a 100km boat journey north from Port Blair through mangrove creeks leads to limestone sea caves 5km inland — one of the most unusual landscapes in India, white stalactite caverns that open onto a hidden beach.
Getting there: Fly to Port Blair (IXZ) from Chennai (2 hrs), Kolkata (2 hrs), Delhi (3.5 hrs with stop), Mumbai (4 hrs with stop). Air India and IndiGo operate direct flights from Chennai and Kolkata; budget fares from ₹4,000 one-way when booked early. Ferry to Havelock: 2–3 daily government and private ferries (Makruzz, Green Ocean), 2–2.5 hrs, ₹1,100–₹1,400/person. Ferry to Neil Island: 1–2 hrs from Port Blair or 30 min from Havelock. Best season: October–May. December–January is peak — water is at its calmest and clearest, visibility for diving and snorkelling is maximum (20–30m), and temperatures are a perfect 28–30°C. November is particularly good — quieter than peak season, all water sports fully operational. April–May: hotter but still excellent diving. June–September — monsoon season; rough seas cancel most water sports and inter-island ferries; avoid for honeymoons unless specifically seeking the dramatic monsoon atmosphere.
