Frequently Asked Questions
What visa do I need for Poland and Latvia?
Both Poland and Latvia are Schengen member states — ONE Schengen Tourist Visa covers the entire 9-day journey. Since Warsaw (Poland) is your entry point, apply to the Polish Consulate (VFS Global). Fee approx. ₹7,500. Processing: 10–15 working days. Note: Poland uses Polish Zloty (PLN) while Latvia uses Euro (€) since 2014 — so carry a mix of currencies or a good forex card that handles both. Holiday Vibez provides complete documentation support. Apply 6 weeks before travel.
Is the Auschwitz visit emotionally difficult? Should children come?
Auschwitz is profoundly moving and emotionally challenging — many visitors weep, and it is considered entirely appropriate to do so. It is also essential: one of the most important historical sites in the world, visited by 2.3 million people annually. Our expert guide ensures the visit is handled with sensitivity, historical context, and respect. We recommend Auschwitz for adults and mature teenagers (14+). For younger children, there are alternative activities in Krakow on the same day. Every adult traveller who visits consistently says it was the most important day of their trip.
Why is Riga Art Nouveau significant?
Riga is the undisputed world capital of Art Nouveau architecture. At the turn of the 20th century (1896–1913), Riga was one of the wealthiest cities in the Russian Empire, and its merchant class commissioned over 800 Art Nouveau buildings from architects including Mikhail Eisenstein (father of the filmmaker). The result is a concentration of Art Nouveau facades, figures, and ornamental detail that exceeds even Paris or Vienna. Walking along Alberta Street is like walking through a living gallery of the most exuberant decorative architecture ever built. UNESCO recognises it as Outstanding Universal Value.
Is Poland the best value destination in Europe?
Poland consistently ranks as the best-value destination in Europe for Indian travellers. A full restaurant meal with drinks costs approximately ₹800–1,200. Museum entries are ₹200–500. A craft beer costs ₹150. Hotel quality is excellent and prices are 40–60% lower than Western Europe. Krakow is particularly extraordinary value — it rivals Prague and Vienna in beauty, cultural richness, and historical depth, but at a fraction of the cost. The Polish Zloty (PLN) currently offers very favourable exchange rates from Indian Rupees.
What is the Wieliczka Salt Mine and why is it worth visiting?
Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the world’s oldest industrial sites — it has been mined continuously since the 13th century and is the world’s oldest salt mine still in operation. The 2.5km guided tour descends 135m underground through extraordinary chambers carved from salt, including the Chapel of St Kinga — a complete church with chandeliers, relief carvings, and an altar, all made from salt, built by miners between 1895 and 1963. The underground lake, the carved salt sculptures, and the scale of the chambers are genuinely astonishing. It is completely unlike any other museum experience in the world.

The Auschwitz visit was the most important thing I have done in 20 years of international travel. Walking through the gate, seeing the personal belongings, standing at the Birkenau platform — I was completely silent for two hours afterward. Every human being should visit once in their lifetime. But Krakow the next day with the Wieliczka Salt Mine restored us completely — the underground chapel lit by salt crystal chandeliers is one of the most extraordinary spaces I have ever entered. Riga was a revelation — we knew nothing about it before arriving and found one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Holiday Vibez gave us 9 days that changed how we see the world.

We were hesitant about Eastern Europe as our first Europe trip — we had expected it to be less impressive than Western Europe. We were completely wrong. Krakow’s Main Market Square is as beautiful as anything in Vienna or Prague, and costs one-third the price to enjoy. A full dinner with wine for two in Krakow Old Town cost us ₹1,800 — extraordinary. The Riga Art Nouveau tour was the biggest surprise — we had no idea this existed, and walking through those extraordinary facades with their faces and figures was completely astonishing. Malbork Castle is simply the largest castle we have ever seen — the scale is incomprehensible from photographs. This trip exceeded all expectations.

The Warsaw Uprising Museum left me breathless — I knew the broad historical facts but the museum’s multimedia presentation of the 63-day battle, with survivors’ testimonies and personal objects, made it immediate and human. Then Wawel Castle and Cathedral — the coronation place of 45 Polish kings — was beautiful and deeply moving in a completely different way. Poland is a country with extraordinary historical depth. And Riga — the Art Nouveau buildings along Alberta Street, the Old Town at dusk, the bizarre and brilliant Riga Central Market in the old Zeppelin hangars — genuinely one of our favourite cities in Europe. Superb package at very fair price. Holiday Vibez excellent as always.
