The SkyPool at Address Beach Resort was the first extraordinary thing. Our room faced the Gulf. We went to the pool at 6:30 in the evening as the light was starting to change. Standing at the edge of the pool, looking through the glass floor 77 metres straight down to the JBR beach below us, with the Burj Al Arab on the horizon slowly turning gold — I have never experienced anything like it in a hotel. My wife refused to leave the pool for 2 hours. The next day’s private yacht cruise was everything else. Our crew brought champagne the moment we boarded. Leaving the Marina, seeing the JBR skyline from the sea, approaching the Burj Al Arab — from water level the sail shape and the scale are completely different from the road view. We were perhaps 200 metres from it. The sun was setting behind us. My wife and I did not speak for 10 minutes. This is what Dubai is for people who love beauty. I had seen photographs of the Address Beach Resort SkyPool and assumed they were exaggerated by photography. They are not. The pool is genuinely cantilevered at 77 metres with a glass floor, and on a clear day you see not just the beach below but the entire JBR coastline, the Gulf, and the Burj Al Arab all at once. Swimming laps in a pool where the water appears to simply continue to the horizon — it is surreal in the most wonderful way. The yacht cruise the next day gave us what no land-based view can: the Dubai skyline from the sea. We saw the Marina towers from in front of them rather than from below. We saw the Palm from outside it. The Burj Al Arab appeared, slowly, as we rounded the Palm — it grew in our view for several minutes before we were alongside it. The rooftop dinner that evening with the Burj Khalifa lit above us. This is four extraordinary days, no wasted moments. Recommend completely.
