Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need separate visas for Austria and Germany (Bavaria)?
No — both Austria and Germany are Schengen member states. ONE Schengen Tourist Visa covers the entire 8-day itinerary. Since Vienna (Austria) is your entry point, apply to the Austrian Consulate (VFS Global). Fee approx. ₹7,500. Processing: 10–15 working days. Both countries use the Euro, making this even more convenient — one forex card loaded with Euros covers everything from Vienna coffee houses to Munich beer halls. Apply 6 weeks before travel. Holiday Vibez provides complete documentation support.
Is Hallstatt really as beautiful as it looks in photographs?
Yes — and more so. Hallstatt is genuinely one of the most visually extraordinary places on earth. The village of 900 people is wedged between a vertical mountain and the edge of a crystal-clear alpine lake, with pastel houses stacked on top of each other climbing the cliffside. It has been continuously inhabited for over 7,000 years and was so beautiful that China built an exact replica of it. Our travellers consistently say Hallstatt was the single most stunning visual experience of the entire trip — and they had already seen Schönbrunn and Neuschwanstein! Go early morning before day-trippers arrive for the full magical effect.
When is Oktoberfest in Munich and can we combine it?
Oktoberfest runs from the penultimate Saturday in September to the first Sunday of October (usually late September to early October). It is the world’s largest folk festival — 6 million visitors, 14 giant beer tents, 7 million litres of Bavarian beer. If your travel dates coincide, we can incorporate it — the atmosphere is extraordinary and the traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl dress creates a spectacular spectacle. However, Munich hotels cost 3–5x their normal rate during Oktoberfest. Please specify “Oktoberfest timing” when enquiring and we will adjust the package pricing accordingly.
Is Neuschwanstein Castle really worth the day trip from Munich?
Without question — Neuschwanstein is one of the most extraordinary man-made structures you will ever see. King Ludwig II built it between 1869–1886 as a personal fantasy palace inspired by Wagner’s operas, and it directly inspired Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. The interior (guided tour) has throne rooms, artificial stalactite caves, a Byzantine-style chapel, and Singer’s Hall that is beyond anything you can imagine. But the exterior view from Marienbrücke bridge — the white castle floating above a gorge waterfall with the Alpine peaks behind — is simply one of the finest sights in all of Europe. Every single traveller says it was worth it.
Is The Sound of Music significant to the Salzburg experience?
The Sound of Music (1965) is the most popular musical film ever made in many countries — and Salzburg was its setting. Even if you haven’t seen the film, the filming locations — Mirabell Gardens, Hellbrunn Palace, Mondsee Cathedral — are among Salzburg’s finest sights anyway. For fans of the film, standing in the exact garden where the “Do-Re-Mi” sequence was filmed, or entering the church where the wedding was shot, is a genuinely thrilling experience. Salzburg has capitalised brilliantly on its connection — the whole city feels musical even without the film context. The Mozart concerts and dinner performances are excellent separately.

My wife is a massive Sound of Music fan and had dreamed of visiting Salzburg since childhood. Standing in the Mirabell Gardens where Do-Re-Mi was filmed, then the Mondsee Cathedral where the wedding happened — she was completely overcome with emotion. But even beyond the film, Salzburg is simply one of the most beautiful cities in the world — the fortress, the Baroque domes, the river, the Alps surrounding the city on all sides. Hallstatt made both of us completely silent. We just stood and stared. Neuschwanstein was beyond any photograph. Holiday Vibez delivered a perfect 8 days — every transfer was waiting, every entry was pre-booked, nothing went wrong.

The Nordkette cable car in Innsbruck was the most unexpected highlight of the trip — ascending from the city centre to 2,334m above the Alps in 20 minutes, stepping out into thin cold mountain air with the entire Inn Valley and Innsbruck spread out below us — extraordinary. The Klimt’s The Kiss at Belvedere was extraordinary in person — the gold leaf creates a shimmer that reproduductions cannot capture. Vienna’s Kaffeehaus tradition — sitting for two hours over a Melange and Sachertorte reading newspapers — is as civilised as anything I’ve experienced anywhere. This is the most refined and beautiful part of Europe. Exceptional organisation by Holiday Vibez.

We visited in May — the Alps were still snow-capped, Hallstatt lake was mirror-still in the morning light, and the wildflowers were everywhere. Hallstatt was genuinely the most beautiful place I have ever stood in 61 years. The reflection of the village in the lake, the church spire, the mountains — it is simply perfection. Munich’s Neuschwanstein made my grandchildren lose their minds — they had seen it in Disney films and seeing the real thing rising from the Alpine forest was too much for them. We stayed an extra hour at the Marienbrücke bridge viewpoint that nobody wanted to leave. Perfect trip, perfectly organised. Thank you Holiday Vibez.
