Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Santa Claus meeting suitable for children who still believe in Santa?
Yes — and it is one of the most magical experiences a child can have. Santa’s Village in Rovaniemi is the official home of Father Christmas, endorsed by the Finnish government and recognised worldwide. The meeting takes place in Santa’s own cabin — he comes through a special door, takes time to speak with each child personally, and the entire experience is warm, authentic, and carefully managed. Children typically emerge with a look of complete wonder. Many adults admit to feeling surprisingly emotional. Our guides say it’s the most beautiful part of every Lapland trip.
What visa do I need for Finland?
Finland is a Schengen member state. Indians need a Schengen Tourist Visa applied through the Finnish Consulate (VFS Global). Finland uses the Euro (€). Fee approx. ₹7,500. Processing: 10–15 working days. Since Helsinki is your entry point, apply to the Finnish consulate in India. Holiday Vibez provides complete documentation support. Apply 6 weeks before travel. The Schengen visa for Finland also covers all 26 other Schengen member states.
Is it safe to do a husky safari without experience?
Absolutely — no experience whatsoever is needed. The expert guides give a full 20-minute briefing before you start, covering how to control the sled, how to brake, how to handle the dogs, and what to do if you tip over (you will laugh when it happens — everyone does!). The trails are well-maintained and the huskies know the route. Children from age 3 can participate as passengers. It is one of the most accessible and thrilling winter activities in the world — and the joy of the huskies is infectious.
How cold does it get in Finnish Lapland in winter?
December–February temperatures in Rovaniemi typically range from -5°C to -25°C, with occasional dips to -30°C in extreme cold snaps. This sounds frightening but with proper clothing it is perfectly comfortable — and the dry Arctic cold feels very different from damp cold. All activity gear (insulated overalls, boots rated to -40°C, gloves, balaclavas, and helmets) is provided for outdoor activities. For sightseeing, we recommend layering: thermal base layer, fleece mid-layer, and a down jacket. Pack a good winter hat and gloves.
Can I upgrade to sleep in a glass igloo to watch the Northern Lights?
Yes — this is one of the most popular upgrades! Aurora cabins and glass igloos with heated thermal glass ceilings let you watch the Northern Lights from your bed without leaving your warm room. These are available at properties near Rovaniemi and in the wilderness around Saariselkä. Prices for glass igloos range from EUR 400–800 per night (own cost). They book out months in advance, especially in December–January. Contact us early to discuss upgrading 1–2 nights of your stay to a glass igloo — a once-in-a-lifetime sleeping experience.

We brought our two children, aged 6 and 9, for their first international trip and chose Finnish Lapland because of the Santa experience. I cannot describe what I saw on my son’s face when Santa opened his cabin door and called him by name. He was speechless. My daughter cried — happy tears. And then on Night 2, the Northern Lights appeared above the tree line while we were standing in the snow, and my son whispered “Appa, Santa sent them for us.” I will carry that moment for the rest of my life. The husky safari was the most exciting thing my children have ever done. Holiday Vibez gave us something completely irreplaceable. Thank you.

We went as a couple — no children — and every single experience was as magical for adults as it is for families. The husky safari was pure joy — 16 huskies pulling our sleds through complete forest silence. The snowmobile expedition at -18°C through the old-growth forest was exhilarating. Ice fishing on the frozen lake and cooking our catch over the open fire while sipping hot lingonberry juice — extraordinary. And on Night 3 the Northern Lights put on a performance that left us both unable to speak. We stood in the snow for 2 hours just watching. Finnish Lapland is real magic. Holiday Vibez is exceptional.

My parents (aged 65 and 68) came with us — I was nervous the activities would be too physical. Every single one was completely accessible for them. The reindeer sleigh ride through the pine forest at sunset was their favourite — they kept saying “nothing in India looks like this.” The Finnish sauna and ice swimming was my father’s idea of a personal challenge — and he did it with great pride at -20°C! The Snow Castle with its ice chapel and frozen corridors was spectacular. And when the Northern Lights appeared on Night 1, my mother held my hand and said “I am so glad I came.” That sentence made the entire trip. Holiday Vibez organised everything seamlessly — not one problem in 7 days.
