Is Jungfraujoch safe for all age groups including seniors?
Jungfraujoch is at 3,454m. Most healthy travellers experience no issues. Seniors with heart or respiratory conditions should consult their doctor first. The mountain station has a full medical facility. All train rides are fully accessible — no strenuous walking required. Most of our 428 reviewers were aged 50+ with no altitude issues.
What should I pack? Does it get cold at Jungfraujoch?
Pack in layers! Zurich and Lucerne in summer can be 25–30°C. But at Jungfraujoch it’s always below -10°C with strong winds — you must bring a heavy winter jacket, gloves, and a warm cap. Good walking shoes are essential throughout. Sunglasses are a must at Jungfraujoch due to intense UV reflection off the glacier.
Which currency? Can I use cards in Switzerland?
Switzerland uses Swiss Francs (CHF) — NOT Euros! Cards are accepted everywhere. Carry CHF 500–800 cash for tips, small shops, and optional activities. Load a Forex card with CHF from Thomas Cook, BookMyForex, or your bank before travel for the best exchange rates.

When is the best time to visit Switzerland?
May to October is ideal. June–August has long daylight hours (16+ hours) for hikes and adventure. September is our favourite — fewer crowds, golden autumn colours, crisp clear air for Jungfraujoch. Jungfraujoch is open year-round. December–February is beautiful for skiing in Grindelwald and Interlaken.
