Patan is the oldest of the valley's three royal cities and the heartland of Newari art. Its compact old town rewards slow exploration, with hidden courtyards, Buddhist bahals and a Durbar Square many travellers rate above Kathmandu's own.

Patan lies just south of central Kathmandu, around a 20 to 30 minute drive across the Bagmati River. It combines naturally with a Kathmandu city tour or a Bhaktapur day. We arrange transfers and a local guide.
