Gokyo offers Everest-region grandeur with fewer crowds than the classic Base Camp trail. The turquoise lakes, the immense Ngozumpa Glacier and the four-peak view from Gokyo Ri make it a photographer's dream. It is a serious high-altitude trek, so fitness and acclimatisation matter. Many rate the Gokyo Ri panorama as even better than Kala Patthar.
This is a strenuous, high-altitude trek reaching 5,357m at Gokyo Ri. You should be comfortable walking 5-7 hours a day at altitude over consecutive days. We include acclimatisation stops and a gradual profile, but altitude sickness can affect anyone and your guide monitors the group closely.
Fly to Kathmandu (KTM) from South India via Delhi or Kolkata. The trek begins with a short, weather-dependent mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, so we recommend keeping buffer days for possible flight delays.
Indian citizens do not need a visa for Nepal. Travel with a valid Indian passport or Voter ID card - there is no visa fee. The Khumbu area permit and national park entry are arranged within your package.
October-November and March-April are the prime seasons, with the most stable weather and the bluest lakes. Winter is very cold and some sections may be snowbound, while the monsoon brings cloud and flight disruption. Even in peak season Himalayan weather is unpredictable, so clear views cannot be assured.
