Nepal's Kathmandu Valley holds one of Asia's richest concentrations of heritage — seven UNESCO-listed monument zones within an hour of each other. A cultural tour weaves through medieval durbar squares, the great stupas of Boudhanath and Swayambhunath, and the artisan towns of Patan and Bhaktapur where Newari craft still thrives. Holiday Vibez arranges knowledgeable local guides so the temples, myths and festivals come alive. Indians don't need a visa for Nepal, making this heritage circuit simple to plan.

Overview

The Kathmandu Valley packs three former royal cities — Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur — into a compact, walkable area. Each has its own durbar (palace) square, and together they showcase Newari architecture, Hindu and Buddhist shrines side by side, and a calendar bursting with festivals.

Newari Culture & Festivals

The Newar people are the valley's original inhabitants, celebrated for their food, craft and festivals. Depending on timing you might catch Indra Jatra, Dashain or Tihar, when squares fill with masked dances, chariot processions and lamplight. We can time itineraries around major festivals on request.

Best Time to Visit

October to November brings clear skies and the biggest festivals, while March to April offers pleasant spring weather. Monsoon (Jun–Aug) is greener but wetter; winter days are cool and bright in the valley.

Entry & Documents

Indian citizens do not need a visa for Nepal. Enter with a valid Indian passport or Voter ID (Election Commission card). Monument-zone entry tickets for some sites are payable locally and can be included in your quote.

How to Reach

Fly from South India to Kathmandu (KTM), usually via Delhi or Kolkata. Overland routes exist via the India–Nepal border, but flying is the quickest way to begin your valley tour.
