How to Reach Lakshadweep
Every route runs through Kochi — by ATR flight to Agatti or by ship across the Arabian Sea.
Reaching Lakshadweep is part of the adventure, and there are two ways to do it — both via Kerala. You can fly from Kochi to Agatti, the islands' only airport, on a small ATR aircraft with limited seats, then transfer by boat to your island; or you can sail from Kochi by ship, a voyage of roughly 14–20 hours. There are no direct flights from anywhere except Kochi, so travellers from Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad all connect through the city. Here's how each route works.

Suggested itinerary
Fly or take a train to Kochi from your home city and stay overnight to catch the onward morning departure.
Board the ATR flight to Agatti, or embark your ship. On arrival at Agatti, meet your boat transfer to the island.
Reach your island, unwind by the lagoon and begin snorkelling and beach time.
Enjoy water sports and island-hopping, making the most of your days on the islands.
Boat back to Agatti for your flight, or sail back to Kochi, then connect home.

Option 1: Fly Kochi to Agatti
The fastest route is a flight from Kochi (COK) to Agatti (AGX), the only airport in Lakshadweep. Flights use small ATR aircraft with limited seats, so they book up quickly and should be secured well in advance. On landing you transfer by boat to your chosen island, since Agatti is the hub for onward speedboat connections.
Option 2: Sail by ship from Kochi
Alternatively you can travel by sea from Kochi. The Samudram package cruise and government passenger vessels cross the Arabian Sea in roughly 14–20 hours each way. The ship route is slower but lets you visit several islands on one voyage, with the vessel doubling as transport and, on the cruise, your accommodation.
Why everyone routes via Kochi
There are no direct flights or ships to Lakshadweep from any city except Kochi. The airport and seaport at Kochi are the single gateway, so whichever way you travel, your journey funnels through Kerala first. Building an overnight buffer in Kochi is wise to avoid missing tightly scheduled onward departures.
Connecting from major cities
Travellers from across India first reach Kochi, then continue to the islands:
- Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad — short flights or trains to Kochi
- Mumbai, Delhi — direct flights to Kochi, then onward to Agatti or by ship
- Anywhere else — route to Kochi first, then fly or sail
Best time & planning tips
Travel between October and May, when the sea is calm and flights and transfers run reliably; the June–September monsoon disrupts boat services and crossings. Book the limited Agatti flights early, allow buffer time in Kochi, and remember your entry permit must be arranged in advance. We can't quote airfares or ship fares here, as they vary — your final quote depends on island, season, flights and permit.

Real stories from real journeys
Thousands of families and couples across South India have travelled with us — here's what a few of them had to say.
Travelling with my parents and two kids, I was nervous. Holiday Vibez planned every single day perfectly, and the Alleppey houseboat was the highlight. We are already planning our next trip with them.
Best price I found anywhere, and the desert safari and Burj Khalifa tickets were all sorted before we even landed. The team was on WhatsApp whenever I had a question.
The Gulmarg gondola, the shikara ride on Dal Lake — exactly like the photos, no surprises at all. By the end of the trip our driver felt like family.
Booked a fairly last-minute Phuket trip and they still got me a great deal with visa help included. Honest, smooth and genuinely helpful people.
Scuba at Havelock was a dream come true. Every transfer and every hotel was exactly as promised. Worth every rupee, and I have already recommended them to friends.
