Kochi is the single gateway to Lakshadweep, and every journey to the islands begins here. You can fly Kochi (COK) to Agatti (AGX) on a small ATR flight, then transfer by boat to your island, or sail from Kochi by ship on the Samudram cruise or a government passenger vessel. There are no direct flights to the islands from any other city, so travellers from Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad all connect through Kochi. A night in Kochi before or after keeps the trip relaxed.

Agatti has the only airport in Lakshadweep, and the flights that serve it operate from Kochi. Ships to the islands also depart from Kochi. That makes Kochi the one gateway, so wherever you start, your itinerary is built around a Kochi connection.
Flying Kochi to Agatti is quick, though seats on the small ATR aircraft are limited and best booked early. Sailing on the Samudram ship cruise takes longer, roughly 14 to 20 hours each way, but rolls the journey into the experience with several islands on one voyage. There are no direct flights to Lakshadweep from Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad or anywhere else. Travellers from these cities fly to Kochi first, then continue by air or sea. We can help align your connecting flight timings with the island departure.
