Lakshadweep runs on the rhythm of the Arabian Sea, and timing your trip well makes all the difference. The islands are at their finest from October to May, when the sea settles, the lagoons turn glassy and visibility underwater is superb. During the southwest monsoon from June to September the sea grows rough and many inter-island boat services and transfers are suspended. If you want smooth crossings, warm water and postcard-clear reefs, plan for the dry season.
The monsoon eases and the sea begins to flatten, reopening transfers to the tourist islands. A good time for quieter beaches.

The sweet spot is October to May, with December to April the true peak. Across these months the sea is calm, the lagoons are clear and every water activity, from scuba to kayaking, is at its best. Book winter dates early, as flight seats to Agatti and island cottages are limited.
During the southwest monsoon the Arabian Sea turns rough and unpredictable. Many inter-island boat and speedboat transfers are suspended, water sports pause and travel becomes unreliable. We generally do not run island trips in this window, and recommend planning for the dry season instead.
Lakshadweep's appeal lives in the water, so sea state matters more than temperature.
If diving is your priority, aim for December to April, when visibility peaks. For easy lagoon swimming and family-friendly snorkelling, any dry-season month works well. October and May are quieter and pleasant, though conditions can be a touch more variable at the edges of the season.
Whatever month you choose, the mandatory entry permit takes time. Apply roughly 15 to 30 days ahead with ID proof, passport photos and a police clearance certificate. Holiday Vibez assists with arranging the permit as part of your package, subject to government approval.
