Tucked into Vietnam's cool northern mountains, Sapa is a patchwork of rice terraces stepping down misty valleys past the villages of the Hmong, Dao and other hill tribes. On foot you follow trails between the paddies, meet welcoming local families, and can spend a night in a simple homestay for a genuine taste of highland life. Fresh air, big views and warm hospitality make it a wonderful contrast to Vietnam's cities and coast. Holiday Vibez arranges guided treks and homestays to match your fitness and time, as part of a northern Vietnam trip.

Trekking for every level

Sapa suits gentle strollers and keen hikers alike. We arrange easy half-day walks on well-trodden paths or fuller valley treks with a homestay overnight, always with a local guide who knows the trails, the villages and the best viewpoints.

How to reach Sapa

Sapa lies in the far north, reached from Hanoi (HAN) by an overnight train to Lao Cai or a scenic five-to-six-hour drive by expressway. India connects to Hanoi with direct flights from some metros or a 1-stop, and we arrange the onward journey.

Best time to trek

The north is best October to April, cool and dry though winter can be misty and chilly. For the greenest terraces visit in summer; for the famous golden harvest, aim for around September. We advise on the look you want.

Staying in a homestay

A night in a village homestay is the highlight for many, sharing a simple room, a home-cooked meal and stories with a local family. Facilities are basic but warm and clean, and the experience is authentic and memorable.

Visa help for India

Indian visitors need a Vietnam e-Visa, usually issued in three to five working days. Holiday Vibez assists with the application; approval always rests with the authorities.
