Samudram Cruise Lakshadweep: Sail from Kochi
A ship-based island hop from Kochi to Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy
The Samudram cruise is the classic way to sample several Lakshadweep islands on a single, self-contained voyage. Departing from Kochi, the ship carries you across the Arabian Sea to island stops that typically include Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy, with the ship itself as your floating hotel between them. You sleep in a cabin, dine on board and step ashore each day for lagoon swims, snorkelling and island exploration. It's an ideal choice for travellers who want to see more of the archipelago without arranging separate island stays.
Top things to see & do
Suggested itinerary
Board the Samudram at Kochi and sail out across the Arabian Sea. Settle into your cabin and enjoy your first evening at sea.
Go ashore at the capital to see the marine aquarium and mosques, then swim and snorkel in the Kavaratti lagoon.
Spend the day in Kalpeni's clear lagoon among its islets and coral-debris beaches, with time for snorkelling and kayaking.
Explore Minicoy's lighthouse, lagoon and Mahl culture before returning aboard for the voyage home.
Sail back across the sea to Kochi, disembarking with memories of three very different Lakshadweep islands.

About the ship & the voyage
The Samudram is a passenger ship that serves as both transport and accommodation for the trip. From Kochi it sails to a cluster of islands — typically Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy — over a 4–5 day package, with the open sea crossing taking roughly 14–20 hours in each direction. You live aboard throughout, going ashore for day-trips.
Cabins & onboard life
Accommodation is in ship cabins across different comfort categories, with onboard dining and open deck areas for sea views and sunsets. It's comfortable and practical rather than a big luxury liner — in keeping with Lakshadweep's simple, eco-minded style. Days at sea are relaxed, punctuated by the excitement of each island landing.
Islands you'll visit
A typical Samudram itinerary combines three contrasting islands: Kavaratti, the capital with its aquarium and mosques; Kalpeni, a lagoon island of islets and coral-debris beaches; and Minicoy, the southern isle of tuna culture and a landmark lighthouse. Each ashore day brings lagoon swims, snorkelling and local exploration.
Entry permit — we assist
Every cruise passenger needs a mandatory entry permit for Lakshadweep. Holiday Vibez helps arrange it as part of your package, subject to government approval — apply around 15–30 days ahead with ID proof, passport photos and a police clearance certificate. We cannot guarantee or fast-track approval, so book with time in hand.
Best time & who it suits
Sail between October and May, when the sea is calm and lagoons are clear; December to April is peak. The cruise suits travellers who want to see several islands in one trip without organising separate stays — families, groups and curious first-timers. It's less suited to those set on a single secluded beach resort.
Travel tips for the cruise
If you're prone to seasickness, carry medication for the open crossing. Bring cash, since cards and ATMs are scarce, and a BSNL/postpaid SIM for the best signal near the islands. Pack light, reef-safe essentials, and remember the islands are largely dry — alcohol in Lakshadweep is permitted only on Bangaram, which isn't a standard Samudram stop.

Real stories from real journeys
Thousands of families and couples across South India have travelled with us — here's what a few of them had to say.
Travelling with my parents and two kids, I was nervous. Holiday Vibez planned every single day perfectly, and the Alleppey houseboat was the highlight. We are already planning our next trip with them.
Best price I found anywhere, and the desert safari and Burj Khalifa tickets were all sorted before we even landed. The team was on WhatsApp whenever I had a question.
The Gulmarg gondola, the shikara ride on Dal Lake — exactly like the photos, no surprises at all. By the end of the trip our driver felt like family.
Booked a fairly last-minute Phuket trip and they still got me a great deal with visa help included. Honest, smooth and genuinely helpful people.
Scuba at Havelock was a dream come true. Every transfer and every hotel was exactly as promised. Worth every rupee, and I have already recommended them to friends.
