A Lakshadweep cruise trades airports for the open Arabian Sea, sailing you from Kochi to a cluster of coral islands you simply cannot reach any other way in a single trip. The best-known option is the Samudram package cruise, a ship-based voyage that typically takes in Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy, with day excursions to each by smaller boat. You sleep and dine aboard, then step ashore for snorkelling, lagoon swims and island culture before sailing on overnight. It is the most relaxed way to sample several islands at once, and a genuinely different holiday from a fly-and-stay trip.

Ferry ashore to the capital for the marine aquarium, the historic Ujra mosque and a gentle swim in Kavaratti lagoon. Return aboard as the ship moves on.
Spend the day around Kalpeni's lagoon and islets, snorkelling over shallow reefs and walking the coral-debris beaches. Evening back on the ship.
Explore the southernmost island, climb towards the landmark lighthouse and learn about its tuna-fishing and Mahl-speaking community.
A final morning at sea before the ship returns to Kochi, where the cruise concludes and onward travel begins.

Days follow an easy rhythm: breakfast aboard, a boat transfer to the day's island, several hours ashore for snorkelling and sightseeing, then back to the ship for lunch or dinner as it sails to the next stop. Because you sleep on board, you never pack and unpack between islands, and the overnight legs cover the long distances while you rest.
Accommodation is in ship cabins rather than beach cottages, ranging from simpler shared-style berths to more private rooms depending on the sailing. Meals are served on board and deck areas give you space to relax between excursions. It is comfortable and functional rather than a floating luxury liner, so come for the itinerary and the sea rather than five-star frills.
An entry permit is mandatory for every visitor to Lakshadweep, cruise passengers included. Holiday Vibez assists with and arranges the permit as part of your package, and we ask you to apply about 15 to 30 days ahead. You will need ID proof, passport photographs and a police clearance certificate; permits are subject to government approval, so please book with time to spare.
The cruise season runs broadly from October to May, when the sea is calm and the lagoons are clear, with December to April the busiest window. During the southwest monsoon from June to September the sea turns rough and many sailings and island transfers are suspended, so we do not recommend a cruise in those months.
A cruise is ideal if you want to see several islands in one trip, prefer not to change hotels, and enjoy time on the water. A fly-and-stay trip, by contrast, suits travellers who want to base themselves on one island like Agatti or Bangaram, spend long unhurried days on a single lagoon, and skip the long sea crossings.
