A living Buddhist culture

Bhutan follows Vajrayana Buddhism, and its dzongs, chortens and monasteries remain active centres of faith and administration. On a cultural tour you witness rituals, prayer wheels and monastic life as part of everyday Bhutanese existence, not a museum piece.

Festivals and tshechus

Tshechus are vibrant religious festivals featuring masked cham dances, held at dzongs across the year. Timing your visit with a tshechu, such as those in Paro or Thimphu, offers an unforgettable window into Bhutanese spirituality. Ask us about the festival calendar for your dates.

Entry permit and documents

Indian citizens do not need a visa. You travel on an Entry Permit plus the Sustainable Development Fee, currently Rs 1,200 per person per night for Indians (children discounted, under-6 exempt; subject to change), entering with a passport or Voter ID. We arrange the Entry Permit for you.

Respectful travel and dress

Dzongs and temples are sacred, so modest dress covering shoulders and knees is appreciated, and photography is restricted inside many shrines. Our guides explain local etiquette so you can engage respectfully with monks and worshippers.

Best time for culture

Spring and autumn bring the clearest weather and the richest festival calendar. We can align your trip with a specific tshechu, subject to the annual dates, which shift with the lunar calendar.
