A rowed sampan winds between rice fields and cave-pierced karst.
Often called Halong Bay on land, Ninh Binh serves up the same soaring limestone karsts, only here they rise from emerald rivers and golden rice paddies. A local rower guides your sampan through the flooded caves and winding waterways of Trang An or Tam Coc, past temples and grazing goats. Cap it with the leg-burning climb up Mua Cave for a dragon's-eye view over the whole valley. It is an easy, scenic day trip from Hanoi that Holiday Vibez slots into any northern Vietnam itinerary.

Both are wonderful. Trang An is longer, quieter and threads through more caves and film-set temples; Tam Coc is shorter, cuts through open rice fields and is stunning when the paddies turn gold in early summer. We can include either, or both on a fuller day.
Ninh Binh lies about a two-hour drive south of Hanoi (HAN), making it a comfortable day trip or an overnight stop. India connects to Hanoi with direct flights from some metros or a 1-stop, and your transfer is arranged door to door.
The north is best October to April for cool, dry weather, though the paddies are greenest in spring and gold around late May to June. We will suggest dates for the scenery you most want to see.
The reward for around 500 steps is the valley's finest view, with the Tam Coc river snaking between karsts far below. Wear proper shoes and carry water; it is steep but the panorama is worth every step.
Indian visitors need a Vietnam e-Visa, generally issued within three to five working days. Holiday Vibez guides your application; approval is always the authorities' decision.
