Thekkady offers Kerala's best mix of wildlife and spice-hill scenery. The Periyar boat safari is the highlight, but the region also rewards with plantation walks, cultural shows and cool forest air. It's an active, nature-rich stop that balances beautifully against the slower backwaters and tea gardens.

The nearest airport is Kochi (COK), around four hours by road; Madurai and Trivandrum (TRV) are alternatives. There's no local railway, so most guests arrive by road from Kochi, Munnar or Alleppey. We arrange comfortable private transfers throughout your trip.
September to March brings pleasant weather and good wildlife activity, with December and January peak. The June to August monsoon makes the forests lush and green and the spice hills especially fragrant, though safaris may occasionally be affected by heavy rain.
Book boat safari slots early, as they're popular; the first morning cruise offers the best light and wildlife. Wear neutral clothing and sturdy shoes for walks, carry insect repellent and a rain layer, and keep some cash for spice-market purchases.
