This six-day route is Kerala in full — a graceful arc from the high tea hills down through spice country and backwaters to the southern coast. The pacing is deliberately relaxed, with a single overnight in each destination and one on the water, so you experience the state's variety without feeling rushed. It is popular with honeymooners and families alike.
Munnar opens the journey with its trademark green. Beyond the tea gardens you can visit Eravikulam National Park for the Nilgiri Tahr and enjoy dams, viewpoints and cool mountain evenings before descending to warmer plains.
The Alleppey houseboat remains the highlight for most travellers. A private Kettuvallam, its own cook and the slow drift past waterside villages make for a magical night on Vembanad Lake, bookended by sunset and a still, star-filled evening.
Kovalam rounds off the trip with sea and sand. Its curving beaches, red-and-white lighthouse and easy-going cafes are the perfect place to slow down after days of touring. Sunsets over the Arabian Sea are a fitting farewell to Kerala.
September to March delivers the best weather across hills, backwaters and coast, with December and January busiest. The monsoon months of June to August are lush and atmospheric — the classic Ayurveda season — with fewer crowds.
