The Vighneshwar (Vighnahar) Temple at Ozar, on the bank of the Kukadi river in the Junnar area of Maharashtra, is one of the eight Ashtavinayak shrines of Ganesha and is usually counted as the seventh on the circuit, though many groups fit it in fifth because of the road order. The Ganesha here is worshipped as Vigneshwara, lord and remover of obstacles; tradition, following the Mudgala and Skanda Puranas, holds that Ganesha subdued the obstacle-demon Vighnasura at this spot and took the demon's name at his request. The east-facing image is svayambhu, an elephant-faced stone coated in sindoor with a left-turning trunk, eyes set with emeralds and diamonds on the forehead and navel, flanked by brass figures of Riddhi and Siddhi. Its most distinctive feature is the gold-covered shikhara over the sanctum — the only golden spire among the eight Ashtavinayak temples — credited to Chimaji Appa, brother of Peshwa Bajirao I, after his campaign at Vasai; two tall stone deepmalas stand near the gateway.
October to February is the easiest stretch, with dry, mild weather for the long Ashtavinayak drive; Kartik Poornima falls in this window and is marked here with a five-day festival when the stone deepmalas are lit. Ganesh Chaturthi in Bhadrapada (Aug–Sep) and Ganesh Jayanti in Magh (Jan–Feb) are the biggest gatherings and the town is very heavily crowded on those days — elders travelling with a group are better off a week either side. Peak monsoon (June–September) turns the Kukadi and the surrounding fields green but the ghat roads can be slow.
The usual air and rail gateway is Pune — Pune airport and Pune Junction are both roughly 90 km away, about 2.5 to 3 hours by road. By road it is the Pune–Nashik highway through Chakan, Rajgurunagar and Manchar to Narayangaon, then about 9 km north to Ozar; Junnar town is around 8 km away. Nashik is roughly 140–150 km on the same highway, so groups coming from the north often approach from that side. State transport and private buses run to Ozar via Narayangaon and Junnar, and most Ashtavinayak tour vehicles cover it along with Lenyadri.
The temple itself is at ground level with no climb, which makes it one of the gentler stops for elderly pilgrims — but it is very often paired the same day with Lenyadri, where the shrine sits inside a hill cave up roughly 300 steps. If anyone in your group cannot manage stairs, plan that pairing carefully. Modest traditional dress is expected, and photography inside the sanctum is generally not allowed; confirm current darshan and aarti times with the temple before you travel.

Which number is Ozar in the Ashtavinayak yatra?
It is traditionally the seventh of the eight Ashtavinayak shrines. In practice most tour operators and pilgrims visit it fifth, together with Lenyadri, simply because the two are close to each other on the Junnar road and it saves backtracking. The traditional order is a matter of custom, not a rule, and the yatra is considered complete when all eight are visited and you return to the one you started from.

The shikhara over the sanctum is covered in gold foil — it is the only golden spire among the eight. The temple also has two large stone deepmalas at the entrance, a walled compound with a spacious courtyard, and murals and sculpture through the halls. Can Ozar and Lenyadri be done in one day from Pune?
Yes, that is the normal arrangement — both are in the Junnar area, roughly 85 to 95 km from Pune, and a day trip covering the two is comfortable if you leave early. Keep in mind that Lenyadri involves a climb of around 300 steps into the cave, so factor in extra time and rest for older travellers. Darshan queues are run entirely by the temple; no one can arrange faster or special entry, so allow buffer time on festival days.
