Bhalka Tirth is a Krishna temple at Veraval in Gir Somnath district, about 4 km from the Somnath Jyotirlinga. It marks the place where, according to the Mahabharata and the Bhagavata Purana, a hunter named Jara mistook the sole of the resting Krishna's foot for a deer and loosed an arrow — the event that ended Krishna's time on earth. Tradition holds this as the close of the Dvapara Yuga, which is why the shrine sits on the Krishna pilgrimage circuit alongside Mathura, Vrindavan, Kurukshetra and Dwarka. The temple, built in the Maru-Gurjara style and managed by the Shree Somnath Trust, is small and quiet; its central image shows Krishna reclining, and the compound preserves the peepal tree that local tradition identifies as the spot itself.
November to February is the comfortable window — Saurashtra's coastal heat has eased and the sea breeze makes walking between Somnath, Bhalka and the Hiran riverside easy for elders. Janmashtami (August or September) is the temple's main festival and the shrine is genuinely packed that day, so pick it only if the festival itself is the reason for the trip. March to June is very hot and the monsoon months are humid with rough coastal weather.
Nearest airport is Keshod, roughly 50 km away with limited flights; Diu airport is about 85 km and Rajkot about 195-200 km, and most travellers fly into Rajkot or Ahmedabad and drive. Veraval Junction is the nearest railhead, about 2-3 km from Bhalka, with direct trains from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mumbai and Jamnagar. By road Bhalka is about 4 km from the Somnath temple and 6-7 km from Veraval town, so an auto or a short taxi hop covers it; state and private buses run to Veraval-Somnath from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Dwarka.

Is Bhalka Tirth suitable for elderly parents?
Yes. It is a ground-level shrine with no climb, no long flight of steps and no trek, and vehicles can drop you close to the entrance. Crowds are light on ordinary days; Janmashtami is the exception.
