Nubra is Ladakh's surprise, a valley where cold-desert sand dunes and double-humped Bactrian camels sit beneath snow-streaked peaks. Reached by crossing Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes, our Nubra Valley tours combine the giant Diskit Buddha, the dunes of Hunder and the hot springs at Panamik. We acclimatise you in Leh first and arrange the Inner Line Permit for the valley. Packages start from around Rs 16,999, with the final quote shaped by your hotels, season and travel dates.

A desert in the mountains

Nubra confounds every expectation of the Himalaya. Here, between towering ranges, the valley floor spreads into pale sand dunes grazed by shaggy Bactrian camels, a legacy of the old Silk Road caravans. Green oasis villages and apricot orchards line the rivers, making it one of Ladakh's most photogenic corners.

Crossing Khardung La

The road into Nubra climbs over Khardung La, one of the highest passes any vehicle crosses. The views from the top are spectacular, though the thin air means we keep stops short. On the far side the road winds down towards the Shyok and Nubra rivers.

How to reach Nubra

Nubra is a full-day drive from Leh over Khardung La, so acclimatisation in town first is essential. An Inner Line Permit is required, which we arrange for you. We provide experienced drivers who know the pass and its changing conditions well.

Best time to visit

May to September is the ideal window, when the pass is clear and the villages are green. Days are pleasant but nights turn cold, so pack warm layers. Sudden weather can affect the pass, and we keep our timings flexible to stay safe.

Where to stay

Hunder and Diskit have the widest choice of camps and guesthouses, while Sumur offers a quieter setting. Options range from comfortable tented camps to simple valley hotels. We match your stay to your comfort level and chosen tier.
