This five-day journey layers three of Kerala's great experiences — hill-station tea country, spice-scented wildlife territory and the languid backwaters. The distances between Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey are manageable, so you spend more time enjoying places than travelling between them. It suits couples, families and small groups who want variety without a rushed schedule.
Munnar's tea estates are the visual signature of the trip. You will explore viewpoints, a dam and the Tea Museum, and can walk directly into the gardens. Cool mornings and clear light make this a photographer's delight and a welcome break from lowland heat.
Thekkady adds a wilder edge. A boat safari on Periyar Lake gives you a chance to see elephants and bison from the water, while guided plantation walks reveal how cardamom, pepper and clove are grown. Evenings bring the colour of Kathakali and Kalaripayattu performances.
