Seven days gives Kerala the space it deserves. This week-long tour balances culture, hills, wildlife, backwaters and beach, moving in a logical arc from Kochi in the north to Kovalam in the south. Because Kerala is compact, the drives stay scenic and manageable, and you spend your time enjoying places rather than the road between them.
Munnar anchors the middle of the week with its emerald tea estates, cool air and viewpoints. A day here takes in dams, the Tea Museum and Eravikulam National Park, and there is time to walk among the bushes for that quintessential Kerala photograph.
The Alleppey houseboat is the trip's centrepiece. A private Kettuvallam with its own crew and cook drifts you through the canals as the day softens, mooring overnight on Vembanad Lake — a peaceful, memorable night afloat.
Kovalam closes the week with sea and rest. Its beaches and lighthouse invite you to slow down, and this is also a fine place to add an Ayurveda or spa session, especially if you travel in the monsoon months traditionally associated with treatments.
September to March is the most comfortable season across the whole route, with peak greenery around December and January. The June to August monsoon is lush and atmospheric — the classic Ayurveda season — with fewer crowds and lower demand.
