Why Visit Kausani

Kausani is all about the view, a vast unbroken wall of Himalayan peaks that few places can match. Add tea gardens, gentle walks and a Gandhian ashram, and it becomes a deeply restful retreat. It's perfect for couples and quiet-seekers.

Top Things to Do

Take it slow and savour the setting:

  • Catch sunrise over Trishul and Nanda Devi
  • Walk the organic Kausani tea estate
  • Reflect at the Anasakti Ashram
  • Hike to Rudradhari Falls
  • Visit the ancient Baijnath Temple

How to Reach

The nearest airport is Pantnagar, around 160 km away, and Kathgodam is the closest railhead at roughly 130 km. Most South Indian travellers fly to Pantnagar or Dehradun and continue by road. Flights are additional to the land package, and the mountain drive takes time.

Best Time to Visit

October to November and March to June offer the clearest peak views, which are Kausani's whole point. Summers are pleasantly cool, while winters are cold with occasional snow. Monsoon clouds can obscure the mountains, so pick the clear seasons.

Where to Stay

Kausani has resorts and homestays built to frame the Himalayan skyline, plus simpler guesthouses. We prioritise peak-facing rooms and match the stay to your budget. Confirming a mountain-view room ahead makes all the difference here.
