Fly to Port Blair, then hop between islands by cruise ferry
Getting to the Andamans is simpler than many expect. You fly into Port Blair's Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ), with direct flights from Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Delhi taking roughly two to five hours. From there, you reach Havelock and Neil by cruise ferry, best booked ahead. There is no sea route for tourists worth considering, so flying is the way in. Here is exactly how the journey works.
Take a direct flight to Veer Savarkar Airport (IXZ) and transfer to your hotel to begin your trip.
Board a cruise ferry from Port Blair to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep), around 1.5–2 hours across calm dry-season seas.
Hop by ferry to Neil (Shaheed Dweep), a short crossing to this quieter island.
Cruise back to Port Blair and connect to your onward flight home.

All air travel funnels through Port Blair's Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ). Direct flights operate from Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Delhi, taking roughly two to five hours depending on origin. Once in Port Blair, you travel to Havelock and Neil by ferry. Private cruises such as Makruzz and Nautika are comfortable and air-conditioned, while government ferries are cheaper and reach more islands but are slower. Both sell out fast, so we book your ferries in advance and align them with your flights.
Indian nationals need no permit for Port Blair, Havelock or Neil, so arrival is straightforward with valid photo ID. A few areas such as Baratang's tribal reserve need a forest permit arranged locally, which we organise. Foreign nationals register on arrival.
Book flights and ferries well ahead for the December–January peak. Carry cash as ATMs are limited on Havelock and Neil, and expect patchy mobile signal on the outer islands, with BSNL and Airtel the most reliable networks.
