Dambulla lies at the heart of the island, around four hours by road from Colombo and just a short drive from Sigiriya. Most visitors travel by private car and driver.
The Cultural Triangle is comfortable for much of the year, with drier spells around December to March and mid-year ideal for sightseeing. Visit the caves in the cooler morning for the most pleasant climb.
