Bhutan is famously carbon-negative, with more than seventy percent of its land under forest, making it a rare sanctuary for nature lovers. This gentle tour explores its glacial valleys, protected wetlands and pristine forests — from the crane-filled Phobjikha valley to the rhododendron woods of the high passes. Expect slow travel, birdsong, mountain air and time to simply breathe. Holiday Vibez arranges your Bhutan Entry Permit and a private, unhurried itinerary through the kingdom's wild heart.

A carbon-negative kingdom

Bhutan absorbs more carbon than it emits, thanks to constitutionally protected forest cover and a philosophy of Gross National Happiness that values the environment. Travelling here means moving gently through some of the Himalaya's best-preserved landscapes, from broadleaf jungle to alpine meadow.

Nature highlights

This tour focuses on Bhutan's living landscapes:

  • Black-necked cranes in the Phobjikha valley (winter)
  • Rhododendron forests around Dochula (spring)
  • Riverside and valley walks at gentle altitude
  • Yak pastures and highland meadows

Wildlife & birdlife

Bhutan is a birdwatcher's delight, with hundreds of species from the famous cranes to pheasants and songbirds. Larger wildlife is shy and forest-dwelling, so sightings are a bonus rather than a promise; we focus on habitat, birds and landscape rather than assured animal encounters.

How to reach

Fly into Paro (PBH) and travel overland by private vehicle between valleys, with plenty of stops for walks and viewpoints along the way.

Entry permit & documents

Indian citizens do not need a traditional visa. You need an Entry Permit, which Holiday Vibez arranges, and travel on a valid Indian passport or Voter ID. The Sustainable Development Fee is currently about ₹1,200 per person per night for Indians (children discounted, under-6 exempt; subject to change).

Best time to visit

For cranes, visit between about November and February; for blossom and green forests, choose spring (March–May); for clear skies, autumn (September–November) is superb. Pack warm layers for the higher valleys and passes.
