Yala offers the best chance in Sri Lanka of seeing a leopard in the wild, alongside elephants, bears, crocodiles and superb birdlife. The dramatic mix of jungle, lagoon and coastline makes every game drive feel like an adventure.
Safaris are run in open 4x4 jeeps with experienced drivers and trackers who know the park's animals well. Morning drives usually offer the most activity, though afternoon drives can be equally rewarding, and we arrange the timing and permits for you.
Yala is generally at its best during the drier months, when animals gather around shrinking waterholes and sightings improve. The park has a seasonal closure each year, so we plan your dates carefully to make sure it is open for your visit.
Yala lies in the south-east, reached by a scenic drive from Colombo or the south coast. Most guests travel by private car and driver, which lets us link the safari smoothly with beaches, Galle or the hill country.
