A shikara ride is the quintessential Kashmir experience. Drift past lotus gardens, the floating market and grand houseboats, ideally at sunrise or sunset when the mountains glow on the water. Staying on a houseboat deepens the magic.
The Gulmarg gondola lifts you into a world of high meadows and, in winter, deep snow. In summer there is a lofty golf course and gentle walks; the meadows of Pahalgam and Sonmarg add more room to roam.
