Every Andaman trip begins in Port Blair, home to the only airport and the main ferry terminals. Beyond its practical role, the city rewards visitors with real depth, from the sobering Cellular Jail to boat trips, museums and beaches. A couple of days here sets the scene beautifully before you head to the outer islands.

October to May brings dry, pleasant days ideal for sightseeing and boat trips, with December and January busiest. The June to September monsoon can bring heavy rain and rough seas that affect boat services, so we plan around settled weather.
Indian nationals need no permit to visit Port Blair or the main tourist islands. It is best to book the Cellular Jail show and any onward ferries in advance, and to carry some cash, as this is your last easy point for ATMs before the outer islands.
