Radha Raman Temple in Vrindavan is dedicated to Krishna in the form of Radha Ramana, "the one who delights Radha", and is counted among the seven ancient thakur temples of Vrindavan around which Gaudiya Vaishnava worship in Braj is organised. It was established around 1542 CE by Gopala Bhatta Goswami, one of the six Goswamis sent to Vrindavan by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Tradition holds that Gopala Bhatta brought shaligrama stones from the Kali Gandaki river in Nepal, and that one of them took the form of the small standing Krishna playing the flute who is worshipped here to this day. What most visitors notice is that there is no separate image of Radha beside him — her presence is marked by an ornament placed to his side — and that the temple kitchen fire, lit at the shrine's founding, has been kept burning ever since by the Goswami families who still perform the daily seva.
October to March is the comfortable window, when Braj is dry and mild and elders can walk the narrow temple lanes without struggling; April to June regularly crosses 45°C and is hard on older pilgrims. The temple's own Prakat Utsav, marking the appearance of the deity, falls on Vaishakha Purnima (April–May), and Janmashtami and Holi bring very heavy crowds to all of Vrindavan — Holi week in Braj is punishingly crowded, with lanes packed shoulder to shoulder and traffic into the town at a standstill.
The nearest airport is Agra (Kheria), roughly 60–70 km away; most travellers instead fly into Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, about 150 km north, and drive down the Yamuna Expressway in around three to four hours. The main railhead is Mathura Junction, a major stop on the Delhi–Mumbai and Delhi–Agra lines, about 12–14 km from the temple, with autos and taxis available; the small Vrindavan station is around 2 km away but has far fewer trains. By road, Vrindavan sits just off NH-19 near Mathura, and the last stretch to the temple is through narrow old-town lanes, so vehicles are usually parked a short walk away and covered by e-rickshaw.
The temple sits inside Vrindavan's old quarter — the final approach is on foot through narrow, uneven lanes, which is worth planning for if you are travelling with elders or anyone using a wheelchair. Modest traditional dress is expected, footwear is left outside, and photography is not permitted inside the inner sanctum; phones and large bags are usually kept outside as well. There is no restriction on entry by faith. Aarti and darshan hours shift with the season and festival calendar, so confirm with the temple before you travel.

Why is there no idol of Radha in the Radha Raman Temple?
There is no separate murti of Radha here. Her presence is marked by an ornament placed beside Krishna, on the understanding in Vaishnava tradition that the name and the person are not different. Sources differ on whether this is described as a crown or an engraved plate, so it is best seen for yourself at darshan.
What makes the deity here different from other Vrindavan temples?
The Radha Ramana deity is a self-manifested shaligrama form rather than a carved image, and it is one of the original Vrindavan deities that was never moved to Rajasthan during the disturbances of the Mughal period. The figure is small, so darshan is close and quiet rather than grand.
Can we cover Radha Raman along with the other main Vrindavan temples in one day?
Yes. Radha Raman, Radha Damodar, Banke Bihari and the Nidhivan area all lie within the old town and are within walking or short e-rickshaw distance of each other. A full day is comfortable for Vrindavan, with Mathura added on a second day. Timings vary by temple and season, so confirm each one before you set out.
