ISKCON Bangalore, formally the Sri Radha Krishna Temple, stands on Hare Krishna Hill in Rajajinagar and is one of the largest Krishna temples anywhere. It is a modern shrine rather than an ancient one — the complex was completed and inaugurated in May 1997 by Shankar Dayal Sharma, then President of India — and it belongs to the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition that Srila Prabhupada carried worldwide after founding ISKCON in New York in 1966. The presiding deities are Sri Radha Krishnachandra, worshipped alongside Sri Krishna Balarama and Sri Nitai Gauranga, with further shrines to Sri Srinivasa Govinda, Sri Prahlada Narasimha and Srila Prabhupada. Its most recognisable features are the gold-plated dhwaja-stambha rising about 17 m and the gold-plated kalash shikhara of roughly 8.5 m, set above a hillside complex that also runs one of India's best-known free-meal programmes through the Akshaya Patra Foundation.
October to February is the easiest stretch, when Bengaluru is dry and mild and walking the hill and its long ramped approach is comfortable for elders. Janmashtami, Krishna's appearance day in August or September, is the temple's biggest festival and draws enormous crowds — the hill and the surrounding roads are packed, waiting lines are long and parking is difficult, so families travelling with small children or older parents may prefer an ordinary weekday morning instead. Weekday visits are noticeably calmer than weekends at any time of year.
Kempegowda International Airport is roughly 35 km north of the temple, about an hour and a half by taxi in normal traffic. Yeshwantpur Railway Station is the nearest railhead at about 5 km, with KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station around 8 km away. By road the temple sits on Chord Road in Rajajinagar and is reached easily by city bus, auto or taxi; the temple's own site places it about a five-minute walk from Mahalakshmi metro station on Namma Metro's Green Line, near Orion Mall.
Photography is not permitted inside the temple interiors, and footwear must be left outside. Modest dress is expected as a mark of respect. The approach to the shrine is up a hill with a stepped and ramped walkway, though lifts and wheelchair access are available inside the complex — worth checking with the temple in advance if someone in your group cannot manage stairs. The temple closes for a few hours in the afternoon, so confirm timings with the temple before you travel.

Is ISKCON Bangalore an old temple?
No. It is a modern temple, completed and inaugurated in May 1997, built in a mix of traditional gopuram forms and contemporary construction. Its importance comes from the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition it belongs to and its scale, not from antiquity.
Can non-Hindus and foreign visitors enter?
Yes. ISKCON temples are open to visitors of all backgrounds. Dress modestly, remove footwear before entering, and follow the no-photography rule inside the temple interiors.
Is free prasadam available at the temple?
The temple is well known for its free food distribution and serves prasadam to visitors daily. Serving hours are limited and can change, so confirm with the temple before you plan your day around it.
How crowded is it on Janmashtami?
Very. It is the temple's largest festival and the hill draws huge numbers through the day and night, with long queues and heavy traffic around Rajajinagar. If you are travelling with elders, a regular weekday morning is far more comfortable. No agent or operator can shorten a temple queue — the temple board manages its own darshan lines.
