Deep in Meghalaya's misty hills, the Khasi people have coaxed the roots of rubber-fig trees across streams for generations, creating living root bridges that grow stronger every year. The famous Nongriat double-decker bridge and the single span at spotless Mawlynnong are natural wonders reached on foot through emerald forest. Our tours combine these root-bridge treks with Shillong, Cherrapunji and the region's waterfalls. Packages start from around ₹19,999, with flights to Guwahati additional to the land cost.

Journey to Cherrapunji for Nohkalikai Falls and viewpoints over deep green gorges. Overnight near the root-bridge trailheads.

For centuries the Khasi and Jaintia communities have trained the aerial roots of Ficus elastica trees across streams, weaving them into sturdy bridges that take decades to mature and then last generations. They are among the most remarkable examples of bio-engineering anywhere in the world.
Reaching the bridges is part of the adventure.

Guwahati is the nearest major airport, connected by flights from across South India. From there it is a scenic road journey to Shillong and Cherrapunji, the base for the root-bridge treks. Flights are additional to the land package and we arrange all road transfers and guides.
October to April is ideal, with clearer skies and safer, drier trails. The monsoon makes Meghalaya spectacularly green but the steep root-bridge steps become slippery, so we favour the cooler dry season for trekking.
