Delhi is the easiest gateway to Himachal. Overnight Volvo and semi-sleeper coaches leave nightly from the ISBT to Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala, reaching the hills by morning. Self-drive and private taxis are equally popular, letting you stop at riverside dhabas along the way.
The Shimla and Manali twin-station tour is the classic Delhi favourite, easily done over five nights. Short-break travellers often pick just one base, while those with a week add Dharamshala and Dalhousie for a fuller circuit.
