The Himachal hills have no direct flights, so the trip runs in two easy legs. Fly Kochi to Chandigarh and drive up, with Shimla about 4 hours and Manali about 8 hours away, or fly to Delhi and take an overnight Volvo coach that reaches the hills by dawn.
Kochi travellers most often choose the Shimla and Manali twin-station tour for its blend of heritage and adventure. With a full week, adding Dharamshala and Dalhousie brings Tibetan culture and the pretty Khajjiar meadow into the trip.
