Make the most of upper Kinnaur:
Reach Shimla by air or rail, then travel by road through Kinnaur via Sangla, roughly a two-day mountain drive. The roads are scenic but winding; we plan comfortable, well-paced transfers.
May to June and September to October offer the clearest skies and open roads. Winters from December bring heavy snow that can close access, so we advise planning around conditions. Carry warm layers even in summer.
