Let's clear up the most common confusion first: Indian citizens do not need a visa for Bhutan. What you do need is an entry permit plus payment of the government's Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), and you enter using a valid passport or Voter ID. This page explains exactly how it works, what documents to carry and how Holiday Vibez arranges the permit for you — with no jargon and no false promises.

Do Indians need a visa for Bhutan?

No. There is no traditional visa for Indian nationals. Instead you travel on an entry permit and pay the Sustainable Development Fee. We never call this a visa, and we won't promise waivers — the SDF is a government charge set by Bhutan, not something we can remove.

What is the SDF and how much is it?

The Sustainable Development Fee funds Bhutan's environment and heritage. For Indian nationals it is currently about Rs 1,200 per person per night, subject to change. Children are discounted and under-6s are currently exempt. Because it's charged per night, longer stays cost more in fees.

Which documents do I need?

You can enter Bhutan with either a valid Indian passport or an Election Commission Voter ID card. Carry recent passport-size photographs for the permit application. For children, a birth certificate or school ID may be requested — we'll confirm the exact list for your group.

How Holiday Vibez arranges your permit

We handle the entry-permit process as part of your package. You share your documents and photos, we apply on your behalf, and we build the SDF nights into a clear quote. That means no standing in queues at the border — you simply travel with your ID and photos.

Passport or Voter ID — which should I use?

Either is accepted for entry. A passport is the most straightforward if you have one, especially if you might travel beyond the standard permit zones. If you're using a Voter ID, tell us in advance so we prepare everything correctly.
