Baratang is the Andamans' adventure day-trip, a green island north of Port Blair known for its limestone caves, mud volcano and mangrove creeks. The journey itself is memorable, a road drive through Jarawa tribal reserve followed by a speedboat glide through dense mangroves. Because part of the route crosses a tribal reserve, a forest/area permit is arranged locally, which we help coordinate. It is a full-day excursion best started very early from Port Blair.
Fly into Veer Savarkar Airport and settle in, keeping the evening light for the day's early start ahead.

Baratang is a road-and-boat trip roughly 100 km north of Port Blair, involving a timed convoy through the Jarawa reserve and a speedboat through mangrove creeks. An early start, usually before dawn, is essential to catch the convoy.
Because the route crosses a tribal reserve, a forest or area permit is arranged locally, which we help coordinate for you. Travellers must stay in the convoy and never interact with or photograph the Jarawa community.
October to May is ideal, with calmer creeks and clearer roads. Heavy monsoon rain can make the drive and boat ride harder between June and September.
Baratang is perfect for curious, active travellers who enjoy an adventurous day out over a lazy beach day. The long journey means it best suits those with a spare full day in Port Blair.
It is a long day, so carry water, snacks and motion-sickness precautions for the boat. Mobile signal is limited en route, and the caves involve a short walk over uneven ground.
