The Kecak is unlike any other Balinese dance — no gamelan, just a circle of dozens of men chanting 'cak-cak-cak' in rhythm while dancers act out scenes from the Ramayana. Staged in an open clifftop amphitheatre as the sun sets over the ocean, it is pure theatre. We recommend booking a seat and arriving early for the best view.
Uluwatu's macaques are famous for snatching sunglasses, hats and phones. Keep loose items packed away and your guide will help you enjoy them safely. It is all part of the temple's lively character.
Fly into Denpasar (DPS), typically a 7–9 hour trip with one stop via a South-East Asian hub. Uluwatu sits on Bali's southern Bukit peninsula, about an hour from the airport, and we handle private transfers timed for the sunset show.
