Guwahati (GAU) is the gateway by air and rail, with onward road travel across the states. South-India travellers usually connect through a metro hub; airfare is quoted separately and added honestly, as multi-state routes cover real distances.
October to April is ideal across the region, with Kaziranga safaris roughly November to April and the Hornbill Festival in early December. The monsoon is intensely green but very wet, complicating longer routes, so we favour the drier months.
Meghalaya and Assam need no special permit for Indians. States such as Arunachal require an Inner Line Permit — this is not a visa, and we arrange it. Given the distances, we plan sensible pacing and internal travel so the grand tour flows well.
