Northeast Monastery Tour Packages
Prayer flags, cloud-wrapped passes and the great gompas of Arunachal.
High in the eastern Himalayas, Arunachal Pradesh holds some of India's most spectacular Buddhist monasteries, crowning the road from Guwahati up to Bomdila and Tawang. This is a journey of soaring passes, apple orchards, alpine lakes and centuries-old gompas alive with chanting and butter lamps. For Indian travellers an Inner Line Permit (ILP) is required for Arunachal, and we arrange this as part of your booking. Most guests from South India fly into Guwahati, from where the mountains rise over a scenic two-day drive.

A Himalayan Buddhist Journey
The monastery trail through western Arunachal is one of the most scenic drives in India, climbing from lush foothills to snow-dusted passes. At its heart is Tawang, home to a monastery founded in the 17th century and a living centre of Himalayan Buddhism. Along the way, Bomdila and Dirang add their own gompas, orchards and mountain views.
Permits We Arrange
Arunachal Pradesh requires an Inner Line Permit for Indian travellers. We assist with the ILP as part of your booking; please share valid ID details in good time. Foreign nationals require a separate Protected Area Permit, which we can advise on. Permits and road access are subject to government rules and mountain conditions.
How to Reach
Guwahati is the gateway airport, well linked from South India. From there it is a two-day mountain drive to Tawang via Bomdila and Sela Pass in our vehicles. Roads are winding and altitude gains are steep, so we plan gentle, safe stages. Flights from the south are quoted separately on top of the land cost.
Best Time to Visit
The most reliable months are roughly April to October, when passes are usually open and skies clear. Sela Pass can see snow well into spring, and heavy monsoon rain from June to September may cause landslides. Winter brings snow and possible road closures, so we plan around the season.
Travel Tips for the High Himalayas
Ascend gradually to help acclimatise, carry warm layers even in summer and keep buffer days for weather. Mobile network and fuel stops are limited in the mountains, so we brief you fully. Please respect monastery etiquette, removing shoes and seeking permission before photographing interiors.

Real stories from real journeys
Thousands of families and couples across South India have travelled with us — here's what a few of them had to say.
Travelling with my parents and two kids, I was nervous. Holiday Vibez planned every single day perfectly, and the Alleppey houseboat was the highlight. We are already planning our next trip with them.
Best price I found anywhere, and the desert safari and Burj Khalifa tickets were all sorted before we even landed. The team was on WhatsApp whenever I had a question.
The Gulmarg gondola, the shikara ride on Dal Lake — exactly like the photos, no surprises at all. By the end of the trip our driver felt like family.
Booked a fairly last-minute Phuket trip and they still got me a great deal with visa help included. Honest, smooth and genuinely helpful people.
Scuba at Havelock was a dream come true. Every transfer and every hotel was exactly as promised. Worth every rupee, and I have already recommended them to friends.
