Short on time? A 5-day trip covers Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji and Dawki — the heart of Meghalaya. It is a beautifully compact loop that still delivers waterfalls, root bridges and the famous clear river at Dawki.
With a couple more days you can add Kaziranga's wildlife to the Meghalaya highlights. This is our most-loved itinerary because it balances hills, culture and a genuine safari without ever feeling rushed.
All routes begin at Guwahati (GAU). From South India you will typically fly one-stop via Kolkata, Chennai or Delhi; airfare is separate from the land package. From the airport it is a scenic road journey onward into Meghalaya or Assam.
October to April offers the clearest weather for sightseeing and safaris. The monsoon paints Cherrapunji at its most spectacular but roads slow down, so we adjust the day-by-day plan to the season.
