Most Chennai itineraries fly to Srinagar (SXR) with one stop, typically via Delhi, taking roughly half a day door to airport. Once you land, all local travel is by private car or taxi on the standard tourist circuits.

March to October is the sweet spot: tulips in early April, lush green meadows through summer and golden chinar leaves by October and November.
