Beyond its gardens and houseboats, Kashmir is a genuine playground for the adventurous. In summer, world-class trails like the Kashmir Great Lakes and Tarsar Marsar weave past alpine lakes; in winter, Gulmarg becomes one of India's finest ski destinations. Holiday Vibez builds active journeys that combine trekking, snow and the high gondola with the comforts of the valley. As a domestic trip there's no visa or permit — just fly to Srinagar, lace up and head for the mountains.

Drive to Sonmarg and trek up towards the Thajiwas glacier — a scenic warm-up amid golden meadows and peaks.

Day 3
Gulmarg — gondola & slopes

Ride the high gondola and, in winter, hit the ski slopes; in summer, walk the high meadows and ridgelines.

Day 4
Pahalgam & Aru Valley

Base in Pahalgam and take on shorter treks around Aru and Betaab valleys along the Lidder river.

Day 5
Departure

A final mountain morning if time allows, then transfer back to Srinagar airport for your flight.

Kashmir's adventurous side

Kashmir rewards active travellers in every season. Summer opens up some of India's most beautiful high-altitude treks past alpine lakes and meadows, while winter turns Gulmarg into a snow-sports hub. We match the adventure to the season and your fitness, and always plan the standard, well-travelled routes while keeping an eye on conditions.

Snow & skiing

From roughly December to February, Gulmarg is the place for snow:

  • Skiing and snowboarding on varied slopes
  • The high gondola for access and views
  • Snow play and winter photography for non-skiers

Some high roads close in deep winter, so we plan around what's accessible.

Trekking in summer

The warmer months are prime trekking season. Routes like the Kashmir Great Lakes and Tarsar Marsar reveal alpine lakes and wildflower meadows, while shorter walks around Aru, Sonmarg and Pahalgam suit those wanting a taste of the high country. We tailor the difficulty to your experience.

How to reach

Fly into Srinagar (SXR) — direct from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, or with a stop via Delhi from other cities. From there, private transport takes you to each trailhead or resort, and back again.

Adventure travel tips

To get the most from an active trip:

  • Carry proper warm layers and sturdy footwear, whatever the season
  • Allow a day to acclimatise before high-altitude treks
  • Remember mobile signal is patchy in remote valleys, so share your plans beforehand
