A one-night cruise is the sweet spot: enough time to reach quieter waters the day-trippers never see. Typical packages cover your cabin, all meals aboard, kayaking or a bamboo-boat ride, cave entries and guided activities. Day-cruise options exist too, but staying overnight is what makes Halong magical.
Halong is in northern Vietnam, reached from Hanoi (HAN), the gateway city. It is roughly a two-and-a-half to three-hour drive, and most packages include a private or shared transfer to and from the cruise pier. India connects to Hanoi with direct flights from some metros or a convenient 1-stop.
