The Druk Path Trek is Bhutan's classic short high trek, linking Paro and Thimphu over five to six days along a ridge of alpine lakes, yak pastures and prayer-flagged passes. It is scenic but demanding and seasonal, crossing altitudes above 4,000 metres, so a good level of fitness and proper acclimatisation matter. Camps sit beside trout-filled lakes with, on clear days, distant views of the high Himalaya. We provide guided support, camping crew and your Bhutan entry permit; mountain weather and views, of course, we cannot promise.

About the Druk Path

The Druk Path is the best-loved short trek in Bhutan, covering roughly 40 kilometres over five to six days between Paro and Thimphu. It rewards moderate effort with alpine lakes, high passes and, weather permitting, sweeping Himalayan horizons.

Difficulty and acclimatisation

This is a demanding high-altitude trek reaching above 4,000 metres, with long ridge days and cold nights. We build in gradual ascent and advise arriving fit; altitude affects everyone differently, so we pace the route sensibly and carry a first-aid kit.

Best season to trek

The reliable windows are spring (March to May) for rhododendrons and autumn (September to November) for the clearest skies. The route is best avoided in monsoon and deep winter, when snow can block the passes.

Entry permit and documents

Indian nationals do not require a visa. You travel on an Entry Permit plus the Sustainable Development Fee, currently ₹1,200 per person per night (subject to change; children discounted, under-6 exempt), carrying a passport or Voter ID. Holiday Vibez arranges the entry permit as part of the trek package.

What we arrange

Guided trekking with a licensed local leader, camping crew, pack animals, meals on the trail and hotel nights in Paro and Thimphu.

  • Tents, mats and kitchen support on the mountain
  • Warm hotels either side of the trek
  • Entry permit and route logistics
