This is the classic time to visit Bali, with sunny skies, lower humidity and calm seas that are perfect for beaches, snorkelling and island day trips. July and August are the peak, coinciding with school holidays, so expect higher prices and busier hotspots. The April–June and September–October shoulders offer nearly the same weather with fewer crowds.
The green season brings warm, short downpours, usually in the afternoon, and beautifully lush landscapes. Mornings are often bright, so with a flexible plan you can still enjoy plenty. This is the best time for value and quiet, with lower rates on villas and tours, though sea conditions for island boats can occasionally be rougher.
For beach and island time, the dry season wins hands down. Ubud, being inland and jungle-fringed, is rewarding year-round — the wet season simply makes the rice terraces and waterfalls even more vivid. If your trip leans cultural and inland, the shoulder months are a great, uncrowded choice.
Bali's calendar is rich with temple ceremonies. The most important date to know is Nyepi, the day of silence around March, when the entire island shuts down for 24 hours — no flights, no traffic, no outdoor activity. It's a unique experience but worth planning your arrival and departure around.
For July–August and the Christmas–New Year window, book two to three months ahead as the best villas and flights sell out. Shoulder and green-season trips can often be arranged with more flexibility. Whatever your dates, we'll advise on the trade-offs of weather, crowds and price.
